MENTORSHIP

The Mentoring Partnership is offerred in collaboration with TRIEC

The Mentoring Partnerships brings together recent skilled immigrants and established professionals in occupation-specific mentoring relationships. Skilled immigrants entering the program have the education, experience and language skills to succeed in the labour market. What they need are the local insights and access to professional networks that only a one to one professional connection with a mentor can offer.

Who can be a mentee?

Mentees must:

  • have lived in Canada for three years or less and have no prior Canadian work experience in their field
  • have the English skills required to perform effectively in the workplace
  • have at least 3 years of work experience in their area of expertise
  • have achieved at least a Bacehelor's Degree from outside Canada
  • be unemployed and eligible to work in Canada

Who can be a mentor?

Mentors must have worked in their field for at least 3 years and have a combination of industry knowledge and business experience. Mentors support mentees in understanding the Canadian context of their professiona and workplace culture.

The Mentoring Commitment

Mentors and mentees commit to a total of 24 hours over four months. Meetings can be in person, online and over the phone.

This Graduate Certificate program is currently accepting applications from internationally trained immigrants for September 2012. Through eight months of intensive training in topics such as law, risk management, investments and international relations combined with job-specific language classes and employment counseling, you will be prepared for a career in the financial sector.

Monitoring the activities of securities and mutual fund dealers to ensure that they are working in the best interests of their clients is now recognized as a core requirement for all financial institutions. The development and administration of risk management programs that ensure financial institutions are in compliance with government anti-money laundering and terrorist-financing regulatory programs is becoming increasingly important in the emerging marketplace of

In this program, you will take courses that will enable you to qualify for the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) licensing examinations

Next start date: September 2013. This program is OSAP eligible.
