What is The Mentoring Partnership?
The Mentoring Partnership pairs skilled immigrants with mentors in their professional field to help prepare them for the Canadian labour market and finding work in the GTA.
Why become a mentee?
-Gain a better understanding of the Canadian workplace and industry trends
-Develop a more effective job search strategies
-Build a a local professional network
-Identify ways to leverage experience and skills on preparing for the Canadian labour market and finding work in the GTA.
To become a mentee, you must:
-have lived in Canada for less than three years and have limited or no Canadian work experience in your profession OR have lived in Canada more than three years but have re-engaged with your profession through academic training or bridging within the past 2 years
-have the English skills required to perform effectively in the workplace
-have at least three years of international work experience in your area of expertise
-have achieved at least a bachelor’s degree – or equivalent post-secondary education – from outside of Canada
-be eligible to work in Canada
-be currently unemployed or underemployed i.e. not working in your field of expertise
-be actively seeking work in your field
All potential mentees must meet with a coach to sign up with a service delivery partner and be screened for eligibility for the program.
